History
Nestled in San Diego’s El Cajon neighborhood, The Magnolia, formerly known as the East County Performing Arts Center, is an expansive and sunlit venue that shines after a recently completed multi-million dollar renovation. Upgrades include a reconfigured seating layout showcasing great sightlines for 1200 fans, a completely refurbished lobby bar serving craft beer and cocktails, a brand new VIP Lounge, plush front row seating, updated guest amenities and elevator access to the upper level seating for easy accessibility. Beyond physical transformation; The Magnolia is dedicated to enhancing the cultural landscape of El Cajon and its neighboring communities with an emphasis on diversity and community engagement.
The Magnolia aims to carve out its niche by offering something unique—an eclectic mix of performances that cater to a diverse audience. Since re-opening, the venue has hosted world-class artists such as Morissey, Eddie Vedder, Chiquis Rivera, along with comedians Sofia Niño Rivera, Nick Kroll, Seth Meyers, and Kevin Hart.Â
The venue’s unique combination of size, capabilities, and indoor/outdoor setting allows for a multitude of opportunities, including graduations, speaker-style events, ballets and dance recitals, school theater productions, dance competitions, and nonprofit events—making private events a staple for this venue.
The Magnolia brings together the community and visitors to experience a new level of entertainment in Southern California.
